Comparison of Trailers

The five trailers i have looked at all differ in some way, i have looked at films of different genre and that appeal to different audiences. By analyzing the trailers i can tell what characteristic join with the genre, audience, length etc. Some are common and are you can predict when they occur when others are not.

The first trailer i looked at was a film called 'the impossible' straight away you could tell it was a true story as it showed events from a disaster which is commonly reconsigned it was very fast pace as some of the other trailer such as the dark knight rises. There was a lot of action shown in the trailer and also emotion you could tell that it was going to create graphic events which could be distressing. The action films i looked at were all fast pace and showed snippets of action which made you want to watch the film, it gives you an overview of what the film has to offer and its potential. Some trailers do this more than others and i think that depends on how much you want to go and see the film after watching the trailer.

The other three trailers i looked at were more comedy and romantic films and again these trailers differed from the action ones, the trailers always had happy, upbeat music in the background which tried to represent the effect that the film was giving off. You can tell what type of film it was going to be right at the beginning of the trailer, Easy A you can tell is a girly film that some girls might be able to relate to, however '10 years later' is a film similar to american pie the reunion and can tell it is trying to appeal to middle aged people maybe early twenties who have recently left school or college and they may be able to relate to going back and re meeting their old school mates. Straight away you could tell it was humor as as he hits himself in the face, it tries to show you the best parts of the film so persuade you to go and see it. These three trailers compared to the first two i looked at differed a lot, the genre was different which played a major part in the differences between the trailers but 'the impossible' and ' the dark knight rises' have quick shots which are cut short so they show small snippets of what could be the potential best parts in the film, where the other three trailers were slower shots and showed more of what was actually happening in the film.

A lot of trailer have similar charasteristics and common themes and factors that bring them all together to form a good trailer, some are better than others depending on what kind of genre you like and what type of film suits you. Some trailers are more effective and i feel create a demand for people to go and see them where some are more boring and don't create a need for you to want to see more.
